Sweet Auburn Festival May 8-10, 2009

The Sweet Auburn Festival is a celebration of 25 years of great festivals on Auburn Avenue. In 1984, civil rights icon, Hosea Willams produced the first festival in an effort to bring people back to Auburn Avenue. The name “Sweet Auburn” was coined by John Wesley Dobbs, referring to the “richest Negro street in the world.”
